Customs Clearance

Customs clearance is the process of lodging a formal declaration with Uganda Revenue Authority for goods entering or leaving the country, paying the assessed duties and taxes, and obtaining a release order that allows the cargo to be physically collected. It sounds simple enough on paper, but the outcome depends entirely on the quality of the documentation and the accuracy of the classification.
We handle the full sequence on your behalf: reviewing your commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill; verifying the correct HS code against the current URA tariff; completing the declaration in ASYCUDA World; responding to any queries raised by customs officers; coordinating duty payment; and collecting the release order. If a valuation query arises, we prepare the supporting documentation and submit it in the format URA expects.
Typical turnaround: 1 to 3 working days for clean, well-documented cargo. Complex consignments requiring permits or physical verification can take longer, and we tell you upfront what to expect.
Freight Forwarding

Freight forwarding is the orchestration of moving cargo from origin to destination across one or more transport modes. It includes selecting the right carrier, booking space, coordinating pickup and delivery, tracking transit progress, and troubleshooting when something goes wrong mid-route. It also includes managing the commercial paperwork that accompanies the cargo — bills of lading, airway bills, cargo manifests, and any transit documentation required at each border crossing.
We coordinate sea freight through Mombasa and Dar es Salaam, air freight through Entebbe International Airport and regional hubs, and land freight across the Uganda–Kenya, Uganda–Rwanda, Uganda–South Sudan, and Uganda–DRC corridors. Where a shipment combines modes — for example, sea to Mombasa followed by road transit to Kampala — we manage the handoff between them so accountability stays with one team.
Common mistake: Choosing freight mode based only on price. Speed, handling requirements, and downstream coordination matter just as much — and often cost more when overlooked.
Transport & Haulage

Transport and haulage is the physical movement of cargo by road — from port to warehouse, from warehouse to customer, or across a regional corridor to a neighbouring country. In Uganda's trade landscape, most cargo that arrives at Mombasa or Dar es Salaam is eventually moved by road, and the reliability of that road leg has a direct impact on delivery timelines and total landed cost.
We arrange container haulage, flatbed and low-bed transport for over-dimensional cargo, and general road freight for bulk and palletised goods. Truck selection matches the cargo type: side-loaders for containerised goods, tipper trucks for bulk commodities, and specialised equipment where the load requires it. All trucks are tracked, and cargo is insured under transit cover for the duration of the journey.
Route discipline matters: On transit corridors, timing is critical. A single day's delay can push a bond deadline or create port congestion costs. We plan routes with margin, not with hope.
Warehousing

Warehousing gives you control over timing. When cargo arrives but is not yet cleared, or is cleared but the customer is not ready to receive it, storage creates breathing room. It also supports order assembly, re-packing, sorting, and dispatch preparation for businesses handling mixed consignments or multiple end customers.
We arrange secure storage at inland container depots and bonded facilities in and around Kampala. Bonded warehousing lets us defer duty payment until goods are released from storage, which is useful for high-volume importers who want to manage cash flow across multiple shipments. Non-bonded storage is used for cleared goods awaiting dispatch to customers. In all cases, inventory is tracked and access is controlled.
Cost awareness: Free storage periods are limited. We monitor storage days against free-time windows and flag early when action is needed to avoid daily charges.
Supply Chain Consulting

Supply chain consulting helps businesses step back from day-to-day shipments and look at the bigger picture: which routes are costing the most, which suppliers are creating delays, where documentation quality is inconsistent, and how lead times compare to actual delivery times.
